Why do I need your help? I thought the school is doing Remote Learning.
All schools will be providing at least a portion of your child's education online. For many children, this structure is not nearly as effective as traditional schools.
I can help maximize your child's educational experience, & minimize learning gaps, by providing them with REMOTE LEARNING SUPPORT, or by providing them with INDIVIDUALIZED INSTRUCTION of underdeveloped concepts and skills.

How does this work?
During Remote Support, I would come to your home, during the school day, while your child or children are working on their teacher assigned school work. I would expand their understanding, improve their execution and ensure the submission of assignments completed at home.
Individualized Instruction works primarily in the same way. However, Individualized instruction is designed to help your child maintain prior knowledge, & continue to learn age appropriate skills that they would have received during a full-time, in-person education.

What happens to my child's IEP during Remote Learning?
IEP's are still required, under Federal law, to be implemented during remote learning. You should expect some logistical changes since full- time school is unlikely. Considerable effort should be put into developing an effective document with reasonable expectations.

Who is protected under Section 504?
Section 504 is a civil rights law. Section 504 protects individuals with disabilities from discrimination and ensures that children with disabilities have equal access to an education.
504 plans often include accommodations. These can include changes to the environment, changes to instruction, or changes to how curriculum is presented. Accommodations don’t change what kids learn, just how they learn it. The goal is to remove barriers & give kids equal access to learning.

Do children in special education have to be in separate classrooms?
Most children who get special education services are in the same classroom as kids who don’t. That’s not just the school’s choice, it’s the way the law says it should be. The concept is set forth in IDEA, and it’s known as the "least restrictive environment,” or LRE. If your child requires a more restrictive program, there is a continuum of placement options available.
