About Me:
YOU MATTER~Intervention and Advocacy for Children began when I took an extremely difficult personal experience and over time chose to embrace the possibilities and have faith in the future.
YOU MATTER~ evolved from a strong desire to help exceptional children, receive an education that is effective in meeting their needs.
I worked more than 20 years in public education as both a general education teacher and special education classroom teacher. Later in my career, I was an Educational Evaluator and Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant on a school Child Study Team.
Over time, I found myself becoming increasingly frustrated with the limitations and the politics involved with providing our most vulnerable children with an appropriate program that ensures progress.
One that invests in them as people.
After personally proposing countless ideas that could benefit a multitude of students were rejected or never acted on, and witnessing children not receive their legally mandated services, I began to feel like nothing mattered because nobody cared.
While I hoped this was just my small scale experience, I quickly learned it was a reality for many. What a sad realization this was for a person who generally sees the good in people and believes most everyone is doing the best they can. After a short period of disappointment, I refused to accept that nothing mattered and nobody cared because I knew that wasn't entirely true.
I care.
Because...
YOU MATTER!!!
I am entirely committed to assisting you and your family in maximizing your child's individual, educational growth. I offer a range of services designed to foster understanding of your goals for your child, and help you and your school district collaborate on what types of supports and interventions will help your child meet those goals.
You will receive knowledgeable, thoughtful, honest, informed support from a certified teacher and evaluator who cares about your child's success.
I want to be part of the solution.
Your solution.
Everybody wins when we give children the tools they need to reach their potential.
Respectfully,
Your Partner in Education,
Andrea
